Coworker’s diaries: Hidden Office Gems

I don’t know if you are a basketball fan, but recently the Denver Nuggets won the NBA title. Led by the genius of Nikola Jokic, they achieved their first title in franchise history. It was a proud moment. One might have expected Jokic, crowned as Finals MVP, to be overjoyed given his contribution. However, the post-match interview revealed something different.

“Nobody likes their job. Or maybe they do. They’re lying”, he said during the interview.

This statement raises questions. How can a millionaire, someone who is supposed to be living the dream of playing in the NBA, refer to it as a “job”? Is it possible to be adored by millions around the world, to be playing the game you’ve always loved, and still consider it work?

Well, I guess it’s possible. And that got me thinking. It’s not always necessary to love your job (although it’s better if you do) in order to find purpose and reasons to do it. At Work&Share, you can find many reasons to come to the office with a smile, even if you don’t particularly enjoy your job.

PlayStation

Nothing beats a good old rivalry. Since we’re too lazy to play real football or basketball, our playground in the office is the PlayStation. It’s a great way to relax, bond with colleagues, and show them that while you may be awful at your job, you’re a true king when it comes to FIFA.

Table Tennis

During my first month in this office, I became attached to this table. As a newcomer to the company, I didn’t have many tasks, so I had a lot of free time. Playing a game of ping-pong is always refreshing, relaxing, and enjoyable. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to get to know people from other companies who share the office space.

Darts

Have you ever seen a darts championship? If you’re not familiar with the tradition, you might think it’s a bunch of strange-looking guys drinking and throwing darts. Well, at Work&Share, we may not look that strange, but we certainly enjoy challenging each other. You can tell by the holes in the wall that the people in the building aren’t very skilled at this sport.

Fitness Equipment

“In my office, we even have some fitness equipment. It’s awesome, especially when you don’t have enough time to go to the gym”. Almost everyone has said that at least once. The truth is, not many people use the equipment, but it’s still nice to know it’s there. It gives you the opportunity to brag to your friends that your office has a gym.

Musical Instruments

We haven’t discovered the next Bulgarian music idol in the office yet, but we have the gear to support them if they happen to show up. A shiny guitar proudly stands at the center of the office, accompanied by a synthesizer nearby. So far, all we’ve heard are some terrible chords, dog barks, and off-key singing, so we’re still on the lookout for someone who can actually make use of these items.

Bean Bag Chairs

Don’t get me started… I simply love bean bag chairs. They are incredibly comfortable, and it’s fantastic that we have a couple of them in the office. Sometimes, when I need a break, I grab my laptop and settle into one of these chairs. A word of advice: don’t fall asleep on them when your boss is around. They don’t find it funny.

Sofia

She is the first person you see when you enter the building. Sofia is the manager, the problem-solver for everyone, and the ray of light in the morning (although she can be a bit grumpy before her breakfast and coffee). Sofia is one of the most interesting, kind, and charming people you can meet at Work&Share. She is also the go-to person when you have a question, even if it’s not her duty or within her area of expertise. You can ask her about the AC, parking, fitness or even about the meaning of life. She will come up with an answer, believe me. If you would like to have access to all the office gems, you can reach her out at sofia@workandshare.io.

In conclusion, I would say that most of us spend a significant number of hours each week in the office. You may not be the biggest fan of your current job, but at the very least, your office should be a pleasant place to be. With all its advantages, quirks, and bean bags, Work&Share offers a space that makes the experience more enjoyable.
